The traditional Swiss mountain village, Adelboden, is located in Bernese Alps near Hahnenmoospass on the old trade route leading to Lake Geneva from Central part of Switzerland.

For a long time it was known as the mineral water spa, jet the place was quite often unaccessible during winter, until permanent road was built at the end of 19th century.
At that time Adelboden became popular among British hikers, and before the Second World War featured a cablecar and several high-class hotels.

The slopes on surrounding mountains consist the ski area Adelboden-Frutigen-Lenk named after three communities: Adelboden, Frutigen down at the same valley of the Engstlige river,
and town Lenk located on the other side of the mountains.

The ski resort is one of the most attractive winter areas in Switzerland with 210 km of pistes woth 60% snow support and picturesuqe areas for cross-country skiing, sledging, and almost 200 km of snow walking trails regularly groomed.

The area is prepared for receiving families, there are big ski ticket reductions for families, 6 baby-lifts, numerous schools of skiing, and other sports like skating or curling, which has its own hall with 4 rinks in the new opened Sport center. Freizeit – und Sportarena features also the ice stadium and 6 trains for Bowling.

Snowboard fans will find here instalations in Gran Masta Park with music and grill, Snowcross Betelberg, Crosspark Silleren and Snowboardpark at the Engstligenalp.

Although the ski area is filled with family and beginner facilities it offers also the ‘real skiing’ for advanced and professional skiers.
There are several training pistes for speed check ( Luegli ) timing zone ( Laveygrat-Geils ) and the real challenge pista Chuenisbärgli, which is often illuminated for night skiing.
Traditionally in January/February Chuenisbärgli hosts Men FIS World Cup competitions, and is considered to be one of the most difficult Giant Slaloms in FIS calendar.

Apres-ski offers a vide choice of local food in restaurants, and ‘al-fresco’ – which means the cauldrons with founde on snow, and the local hit founde in Igloo.
The regional museum and 15th century church with music concerts enlarge the range of cultural activities in Aldeboden.
