One of the biggest North American ski resorts, still medium size for European standards is located inside of Banff National Park in Canadian Rocky Mountains, which recently became the part of World Heritage List of UNESCO.

4200 acres of the ski area stretch on the southern slopes of the Merlin Ridge surrounded by three impressive mountains, each reaching height of over 3000 m a.s.l. . The other side of the mountain is prepared for various freestyle rides in so called Powder Bowls featuring the steepest pitches in the Rocky Mountains.

The area around village Lake Luise, Alberta became the third ski resort around town Banff, after Mt.Norway and Sunshine Village, but it is so well developed, that several times competed for hosting Winter Olympics. Since 1980 it hosts World Cup races traditionally at the begining of the season. This year The Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart reces are scheduled for Nov 27-28 men,and Dec 3-5 women. The quality of runs won to the resort a membership of prestigious Club 5, an organization that brings together 13 of the most famous and historic World Cup alpine racing courses in the world.
Among 139 runs the experienced skiers will enjoy 43 of double black, the other can take a lesson from Lake Louise TELUS Winter Sports School instructors, or join the free tour carried by the volunteers two times a day. The Snowpark brings more adrenaline to the younger, and the close presence of Grizzly and Black Bears to the older. Well this is still a national park, which offers unforgettable views the whole year round, and to admire them the non-ski visitors can take the Grizzly Express Gondola which stops just near the peak of Parmigan.
