In spite of its name, Les 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world consists of 4 valleys interconnected with ski lifts and runs.
The first resort Meribel in Allues Valles has been established in 1939 and still remains the character of an old chic village.
The strict local law preserves the architecture integrity of this charming alpine place.
Created soon after the World War II resort Courchevel in Saint-Bon Valley is responsible for growing popularity of the area.
It features the longest run ( La Sauline/Le Paz 7,7 km ) and the toughest one ( Couloir Emille Allais with 35 % drop ).
Snowpark, illuminated downhill run, polo tournament and over 60 km of cross-country runs are a mark on their own.
With over 70 restaurants Courchevel is the only ski resort in the world that can proudly boast of 7 Michelin star chefs.
In 1960′s with the development of Les Menuires the third valley, Belleville, joined the ski area bringing new exciting slopes, but also the modern architecture,
especially visible in nearby Val Thorens.
The lower part of the valley is especially family friendly, with plenty of ski schools, and other activities for children, and Wellness centers for their parents.
Located at the altitude 2 300 m Val Thorens is the highest ski reesot in the world, and features the access to 6 glaciers surrounding the peak Aiguille de Peclet ( 3526 m ).
Glacier des Peclet is a popular spot for summer skiing, and the whole area is full of places for rather unusual activities like ice driving or mountain biking on snow.
In Val Thorens there is also the longest toboggan run in France (6 km).
15 years ago the area has been ski-lift connected with fourth valley, the Maurienne valley which offers marvellous panoramic views on Mont Blanc and other famous Alpine peaks.
Les 3 Vallées features 4 snowparks, 132 km of cross-country runs, pefrect slopes for freeride all over the area, and over 1500 ski instructors to help you with gaining the professional skills.
