The ski resort in Wengen in named after two main peaks near the town, Kleine Scheidegg – Maennlichen, both just above 2000 m. Between these two mountains there is a peak Lauberhorn, a name famous among ski lovers due to the FIS ski competitions held here annually on two slopes.

With the total length of 4,45 km the downhill run Lauberhorn is the longest one in the world, and professional skiers need about two and a half minutes to finish it, even while at the moments they achieve speed of 160 km/h. The run is also considered to be one of the most picturesque courses in the world.

But then the whole area surrounding Wengen features panoramic landscapes, the massive mountains of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, above the Lauterbrunnen valley.
The local train line from Interlaken does not stop in Wengen, but goes into the tunnel to reach Jungfraujoch – the top of Europe, an impressive scientific station with husky dog village, ice palace and some accommodation for guests, alllocated at altitude of 3 454 m or above.
Besides of nice views, which bring thousands of tourist to Jungfrau area, there are plenty of possibilities to ski on downhill runs, and on glaciers ( Ebnefluh, Petersgrad and Rosenegg ) located far above 3000 m, also very suitable for heliski.
Snowboarders will find the slopes and snowpark here, and there are some trails for cross-country skiing in Lauterbrunnen valley below Wengen.
The resort is suitable rather fore more advanced skiers, hovewer the first-timers will also find here some slopes for training and the ski schools tuition help.
The ski resort Kleine Scheidegg – Maennlichen in Wengen is the part of larger Jungfrau TopSki Area, which includes the nearby resorts in Grindelwald-First and Muerren-Schilthorn, the first has the direct snow connection with Wengen, to ski on the slopes of the second one the skiers would have to take a local train to Lauterbrunnen ( 2km ).
